winter blues + orange trees

Some oranges - to compliment my blues this week. I know "Blue Monday" was over a week ago, but I am usually impervious to it because it's my birthday month, and birthdays are always fun. But, for no particular reason, I've been feeling less than fun over the last few days and thought that some bright photos might help.

The word orange itself is derived from the Spanish word 'naranja,' which came from the Sanskrit word nāraga, which literally means 'orange tree.' Apparently the color was named after the fruit around the 16th century. There were orange trees everywhere we looked in Malaga. Yet, we didn't see any on menus which was a little disappointing. Speaking of oranges: this is cute. Here's to a cheerful weekend.

  20. oh, I could use some of that not-so-cold weather over here! Lovely photos!
A funny thing about blue Mondays is that U.S. Air Force wears their blues (dress blue uniform) on Mondays so I am used to calling Mondays - Monday Blues.

  33. I eat so many oranges lately. Been buying huge bags full of oranges and grapefruits at the farmers market since I returned from Florida. When I was visiting my grandpa (87 years of age) in FL, he was eating 12 giant oranges with his lunch. True story.

  34. I love oranges, but am very picky about them. *laugh* I have this memory of oranges from my aunt's tree when we visited her in Florida. And I think I'm always trying to get THAT flavor. Your photos, as always, are beautiful! : )
