upstate new york

We drove to Upper Jay and stayed in a cute cabin that felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. The quaint instructions from the couple who owns the property were "through the village, across a bridge, past the old Ford Factory... you may see the gamekeeper's cottage through the trees, not us! ... around a slight bend, pass through a green metal gate..."  We ended up driving past the turn off once but eventually found it.

After exploring the yard and settling in, we took the owner's recommendation and visited the ADK Cafe in Keene for some chicken pot pie and chilli with corn bread for a late dinner. On the way back to the cabin, we saw a beautiful full moon with clouds floating by. The light reflected on the water and my photos, that I took while Alex was driving, don't do it justice.

I said, when we spent the night in the Sahara Desert, that I wanted to find a place closer to home to see a sky full of stars and Upstate NY did not disappoint. - Mina

  9. Wow what a trip. I love the idea of going to a remote place to explore. We found a cabin last year and are making it a tradition with the second trip this year. So much fun. OH and what gorgeous photos you took!
