Genki Sushi

Conveyor Belt Sushi in North America is probably a terrible idea, but in Japan even this cheap spot had sashimi that was better than most sushi in San Francisco. At 129 Yen for 2 pieces of nigiri, we may have gone back to this cute restaurant more than once.

The color of the plate determines the price of what's on it, but I think even the priciest pick was only 259 Yen ($2.15 USD when we visited). There's all you can drink green tea, and games you can play on the screen. I also love their grumpy logo; it speaks to me. - Mina

  1. genki sushi is one of my fave places to feed my sushi craving. while it's not as budget friendly in where i live (aka indonesia), it's not so up there in price too which makes it perfect for a once in a while splurge. i love that they use the ipad ordering system and the whole delivery gimmick - it makes ordering a lot more comfortable for someone who doesn't like talking to the waiters :))

i didn't know they're supposed to have games! i guess it's purposely removed here so people don't waste time sitting down for hours (which is one of indonesians' bad habits, to say the least) but that game looks silly and fun in a good way xD

  2. We visited Genki Sushi when we were in Tokyo and loved it! It was quick, cheap and delicious - and so different to the conveyor belt sushi chains I've tried elsewhere in the world. Your post makes me want to get back to Japan immediately :)
